Video from Kima at Kinetica 2014 installation

KIMA was setup with two microphones for two sound inputs, used by up to two people at a time. Two sets of headphones present an immersive sound design: each one of the participants can hear one another as well as beautiful spatial arrangements – as if being in a large hall with wonderful acoustics.

Participants experience a real-time visualisation of their sonic collaboration – expressed in cymatic pattern projected on the screen.

Kima installation at Kinetica 2014

Photographs from the KIMA installation at Kinetica Art Fair – featuring a lot of audience interaction, diverse instruments, and audiences of all ages genuinely engaging with the experience.

We received a lot of useful feedback through the survey system we used; some of you left us some valuable notes on how you wish to see this project in the future. We are excited about working with you, our audience and making you part of the experience. The journey of KIMA continues!

Khaos at the MAMAs / Kinetica 2012

Analema Group

presents

‘Khaos’ live performance

Saturday, 11th of February, 13 pm

@ Kinetica 2012 / MAMAs 2012

followed by the artists’  talk

The project is an interactive visual and sound performance, in which a performer dissolves movement into light created by 3D visualization of fractal manipulation. ‘Khaos’ is investigation into the relationship between breathing, sound, movement and energy based practice and its reflection in a live artistic stage experience. It is aimed to explore the notion of space as field full of potentiality that can reveal itself through succession of movements in a dance.

The piece deals with hidden laws of fractal mathematics, complex algorithms and its reflection in human existence being part many processes in Nature. Using approach of intuitive dance, the performer moves within a geometric pattern created through movement, expanding and unfolding the fractal complexity through motion by altering the mathematical equation on the fly.

The performances that will take place during Kinetica Art Fair at Ambika P3 Marylebone (Westminster University) are part of annual competition commissioned by the Musion Academy (MAMAs). ‘Khaos’ project will be presented as first step of a project in collaboration between Eugenia Emets (artist), Mohammad Taha (3D animation / design), Eurico Moita (programmer), Patricia Afari (sound artist / programmer) to be further developed into a more complex setting. Later in the year Analema Group would aim to create a multi-layered performance, where the audience won’t see the changing variables of the equation, but will observe the infinite growth and depth of multi-world of dependent origination.

Special thanks to:

Humus – for letting us use the open source code

Anastasia Koro – for creating the costume (Anastasia Koro on FB)

Mattia Santachiara – for helping to develop initial keyboard controls for fractal manipulation
