Kima at Kinetica 2013

Kima is a holographic surround sound installation and a performance, which explores telepresence as both phonetic and synaesthetic phenomena. The art piece is based on the physical conditions of cymatics, the study of physically visible sound patterns. Two spaces with a 5.1 surround and a holographic interface build the framework of a telematic experience that reveals an alternative way of communication.
The word ‘Kima’ means ‘wave’ in ancient Greek; in this telepresence environment, users experience the waveform both in its sonic and its physical aspects as an ever-changing stimulus.
